Material Information

Titanium

Titanium Body JewellerySurgical titanium is one of the most biocompatible materials for body piercings. It is used extensively by the British and American medical associations for implants due to its total resistance to attack by body fluids. It is superior to surgical steel as not only is it far lighter, but it also releases nickel at a rate that is lower than 0.5µg/cm2/week, meaning that it is suitable for people with nickel allergies.

Surgical titanium is extremely comfortable to wear and because it is so lightweight it can help to reduce irriation, making it perfect to wear in fresh piercings.

Titanium can also be anodised to give a thin oxide layer. While this layer is just as biocompatible, it gives an incredible range of colours due to the light refracting off the oxidised surface. These colours then vary depending on the depth of the oxide layer.

Check out our wide range of comfortable and hygienic products, including barbells, belly bars, ball closure rings and circular barbells.

Acrylic

Acrylic Body JewelleryAcrylic Jewellery is extremely versatile, ranging from Ikon picture plugs, multi-coloured tapers, UV pieces and glow-in-the-dark pieces.

Although it is cheap to buy, acrylic is no less durable or hygienic than other materials. It is easy on your wallet and on your piercing; comfortable to wear and biocompatible, acrylic is perfect for healed piercings.

However, due to the fact that acrylic is not heat resistant, it cannot be autoclaved. This means that this type of jewellery is not suitable for fresh piercings.

Blackline

Blackline Body JewelleryBlackline jewellery is manufactured using grade 23 surgical titanium which is then coated using a PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) process to create a sleek and stylish black finish.

Blackline jewellery is highly scratch resistant and has all of the benefits of surgical titanium; lightweight, biocompatible, and comfortable to wear. Meaning that Blackline titanium jewellery is superior to many other 'coated' metals.

Blackline has a very unique look and is of the highest quality. Check out our range of blackline barbells, ball closure rings and circular barbells.

Zircon Gold

Zircon Gold Body JewelleryZircon Gold is manufactured in the same way as Blackline body jewellery. It is produced using grade 23 surgical titanium which has been given a PVD coating to give it the appearance of gold. However, Zircon Gold is far healthier, safer, and is more biocompatible than actual gold and looks just as good.

And once again it has the same high quality benefits of surgical titanium. Zircon Gold is very comfortable to wear, lightweight and scratch resistant.

Take advantage of our range of labret bars, barbells, circular barbells, and ball closure rings.

Surgical Steel

Surgical Steel Body JewelleryAll of our surgical steel body jewellery is of the highest standard, including Composition D Implantation Steel, 316L and 316LVM surgical steel. Although they do contain nickel they do not release nickel salts into the body and do not induce nickel dermatitis.

Surgical steel is cheaper than titanium jewellery and has a brilliantly bright and highly polished finish.

It is suitable for all piercings, so check out our range of nose studs, barbells, ball closure rings, flesh tunnels and more.

Buffalo Horn

Buffalo Horn Body JewelleryAlthough buffalo horn jewellery is not suitable for fresh piercings, it is perfect for fully healed piercings, especially stretched ear lobes.

Our range of buffalo jewellery is hand carved from water buffalo horn. No animal life is taken to acquire this material and no suffering is involved in the acquisition of these by-products.

As it is a natural and very lightweight material it is extremely biocompatible and is also comfortable to wear every day. Buffalo horn also helps ot combat problems such as irritation and smell, which can arise from wearing metal or acrylic jewellery.

Wood

Wooden Body JewelleryWood is one of the best materials to wear in stretched ear lobes. Due to the fact that it is a natural material, it is very biocompatible and comfortable to wear. It is also very lightweight, which makes it suitable to wear every day.

If you have had problems with irritation or with smells while wearing materials such as titanium and acrylic, a pair of wooden plugs will reduce this immediately.

Allergy Warning

Nickel Dermatitis

Nickel Allergies are one of the most common causes of Allergic Contact Dermatitis (ACD). It causes an itchy rash that appears when your skin touches a normally harmless substance. Dermatitis (eczema) is inflammation of the upper layers of the skin, causing itching, blisters, redness, swelling, and often oozing, scabbing, and scaling.

Nickel Allergies are commonly associated with earrings and other body piercings, Nickel can be found in many everyday items from necklaces to coins and from reading glasses to watch wristbands. Piercing is a major cause of nickel allergy. When the skin is injured, prolonged contact with the nickel containing stud is a well known cause of sensitization. Sensitization can take a week, a month, or even years to occur. Nickel allergy is considered a delayed Type IV allergy, meaning an allergic reaction may occur up to 48 hours after contact with nickel.

Nickel allergies can affect anyone from any age. You may develop a nickel allergy after a single exposure to nickel or after repeated or prolonged exposure. Treatments can reduce the symptoms but will not clear you of the allergy, once you develop Nickel Dermatitis you will always be sensitive to any metal that contains nickel so you should avoid any contact with nickel or anything that contains nickel. There is no cure for nickel allergy.
